My 3D printing explorations made frustrated that the CAD packages that I was using like SolidWorks or Spaceclaim were incapable of producing structures that would fully take advantage of the capabilities of the process. Moreover, I was interested in finding ways to use algorithms to create better engineered, more efficient and visually interesting structures. I started to learn the basics of grasshopper, collected, modified and created scripts that I can now use in various projects.
The exploration of texture and structure with this methodology is in my opinion one of the best way to make manufactured objects feel alive.
3D Voronoi lattice structure for a drone arm, with smoothing of the mesh using a subdiv method.

3D voronoi structure on a a sphere without smoothing
3D printed structure featuring a generated voronoi structure. Functionaly this can be used as a Bluetooth microphone.
